Abstract

Data-Processing System (DPS) Variational Data Assimilation is developing in Institute of Numerical Mathematics of Russian Academy of Sciences (INM RAS) within the bounds of grant of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research "Development of the information-computational system of variational data assimilation for analysis of complex mathematical models" (no. 06-01-08055). She is meant for analysis and resolution complex inverse and control problems for nonlinear mathematical models of geophysical hydrodynamics. DPS consist of base module, one of which is Date Base "World Ocean – INM RAS." Main task of this module is gathering the information on a condition of the World Ocean and its preparation for variational assimilation of measurement data in the mathematical models of geophysical. Date Base "World Ocean – INM RAS" consists of measurement data received in the traditional contact procedures (the hydrological stations, drifting and subsurface buoys, tide and level gaugess, etc.) and remote sensing methods (satellite IR-and the microwave radiometry, altimetry, etc.). Also Database management system is one of base module of DPS. Its main task is selection and control of source information and its preparation for variational assimilation problem.
